We exist to help people seek truth, find purpose, and become fully engaged followers of Jesus.

At Discovery Church, we exist to help people seek truth, find purpose, and become fully engaged followers of Jesus. We believe that every person’s journey matters, and our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged, faith can grow, and life can be transformed. Through teaching, community, and meaningful experiences, we aim to help individuals not only understand God’s truth but also live it out in practical ways, discovering their unique purpose and actively participating in God’s work in the world.

Core Values

Our core values guide everything we do, shaping our community, our decisions, and the way we live out our faith.

Who we are and what we do is filtered first through Jesus as our focus. 

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

(2 Corinthians 4:18)

We are better together! Don’t do life alone. You have to be a Christian for yourself but you cannot be a Christian by yourself.

(Ecclesiastes 4:12, Matthew 18:20)

We are blessed to be a blessing and believe that we cannot out-give God. We live open-handed with our testimony, time, talents and treasures. 

6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

God gave His best for us so we are devoted to bringing our best in everything we do cause we are representing Jesus in everything we do.

(Colossians 3:23)

Joy is deeper than a feeling. Joy is found in letting go of the things we cannot control and finding strength in the one who controls everything.

(Nehemiah 8:10)

Because of what Jesus did for us, we get to live in freedom. Inheritance is receiving something we didn’t work for.

God’s heart is for people so our heart is for people.

Our words can bring life or death. We ALWAYS speak life!

Our Pastors

Lorne & Shauna-Lee Young

Lorne and Shauna-Lee Young are the lead Pastors and founding pastors of Discovery Church. Both originally from Newfoundland, they began their ministry journey in their early 20s, traveling across Canada to speak and serve at camps and conferences of all sizes. From the beginning, their passion has always been to see people come to know Jesus personally and discover the full life that is found in Him.
From 2011–2016, Lorne served as a youth pastor while Shauna-Lee led as a community outreach pastor. In 2017, they sensed God calling them to step out in faith and plant a new, life-giving church in Edmonton. Discovery Church first launched in Southwest Edmonton in a local school (2017–2020) and then relocated to Sherwood Park in the fall of 2021, where it continues to grow and impact lives today.
Together, Lorne and Shauna-Lee have two children—a daughter and a son—who keep life fun and adventurous. When he’s not pastoring, Lorne enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and just about anything sports related. Shauna-Lee loves reading, pottery, and a good coffee. And whenever they can, they both enjoy spending time together cruising on vacation.
Above all, Lorne and Shauna-Lee’s heart is to create a church where everyone feels welcomed, loved, and encouraged to pursue a real relationship with Jesus. Their greatest joy is seeing lives transformed by God’s grace.
